A Look Ft. My Nordstrom Picks

I feel that I need to be candid with you all. As I sit here and write this post, I must be honest, it’s the very last thing I want to be doing right now. It is Sunday night, my face is soaked with tears that are streaming down my face. My mom has just left for the airport after her short weekend here, and I miss her so much already. She got the mom sense that I needed some serious cuddle time (she seems to always time her visits just right, moms), and flew out Friday morning to surprise me at work that afternoon. I turned the corner and there she was. Instant waterworks. We had the most amazing weekend, just spending time together, talking, shopping, you know, all the mom things. And she knew I’d be unable to take off work, so she booked her flight for early Monday morning to prevent me from even trying to ask off. And now, here I sit, the weekend officially over, reminiscing on our first hug outside my office, crying like a baby, wishing I could hit the rewind button.

If you’ve seen my earlier posts, you know that I avoided posting a look from the Anniversary Sale like the plague. This year’s sale was crazy. Everything was gone within the first 12 hours. Seriously, sold out, and very few things were restocked. To be quite frank, I’m disappointed. Usually, there’s stock set aside for Early Access, and then an additional stock set aside for Public Access, so that everyone has a chance to shop the great sale items. That wasn’t the case this year, and I feel like Nordstrom really dropped the ball. However, there were still some really great items that I was able to snag, and some that I’m still hoping to order, so I’ll share some favorites that are still in stock in this post.

I have had my eyes on this cardigan for a year. Yes, a whole year. I saw it last year, and couldn’t get myself to buy it because of the price, but desperately wanted to. You all know that I’m a sucker for anything Madewell, and this open front cardigan was no exception. So imagine my surprise when I see it on the Anniversary sale for $40 off and in several colors. I pulled the trigger on this Burgundy red color, I know it will be great all fall and winter, and does add a pop of color. It’s insanely comfy and soft, and runs true to size. Seriously, this is going to be my go-to everyday cardigan, swoop it up while it’s still on sale!

Jeans are always a great buy during this sale. I’ve been seriously digging the raw hem trend this year, but have yet to find a pair that’s as flattering on me as it is on the 5’10 model. Look no further, because these Rag & Bone high-waisted skinnies are just what we’ve all been looking for. They’re finally affordable, they’re crazy stretchy (size down one!), and cute as can be! I love the dark wash, and the raw hem lets me dress them up or down. But like I said, crazy stretchy, go down a size.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I’m not one to wear heels much unless it’s a special occasion. And if it is, those heels better be comfy. So it’s no surprise that my shoe purchase of this sale was something flat, comfortable, and easy to slip on. Insert the cutest most versatile loafers here. I absolutely love the neutral camel color. I’m not sure if I’m a loafer girl per say, but gosh do I wanna be after seeing these. I think they’ll be great even now with shorts and into fall, and they look great with my raw hem skinnies! The pointed toe is a bit of a statement, but I like the fact that they’re a bit out of my style comfort zone, and I plan to embrace them all year long! Ps. size up a half size!
